We are pleased to welcome Samar AlHallaq as our new assistant coordinator in Gaza. She will be responsible for coordinating the spacer panels in Gaza for the tapestry.
Samar is a Palestinian from Gaza where she lives with her husband Hassan, and two children. She has a Bachelors’ degree in English Education and has worked with UNRWA. During her husband’s studies at Oxford Brookes University, Samar joined him, in June 2013 where she met members of the UK project team for the PHT. Samar liked the idea of spreading Palestinian history worldwide through stitches made by Palestinian women. This inspired her to re-visit her interest in embroidery and to stitch the first purpose sewn, and official tapestry spacer.
