Date for your Diary

Dear Friends and Supporters.

This is a very short update with information I am sure you will be pleased to know. We are delighted to say that, with your very generous help, phase one of the Project is as complete as we can make it. There will be two launches of the Tapestry with at least 80 completed panels.

The first launch will be on the evening of Friday November 30 at St Antony’s College Oxford, the second will be in London at the P21 Gallery near Euston Station, on the evening of Tuesday December 11. We are hoping that you will be able to come one or both events, and see what you have helped to accomplish.

Our aim with the launch is not only to show the magnificent Palestinian embroidery, but to mark the 70 years of the failure to implement the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194 which was adopted on December 11, 1948. It defined principles for reaching a final settlement and for returning Palestine refugees to their homes. It resolved that:

“refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbours should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage

to property which, under principles of international law or equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible.”

More substantial information about the launches and the new website link will be sent in due course.
